In a groundbreaking update, Apple has announced that its AirPods Pro 2 will soon be able to function as “clinical-grade” hearing aids. This feature, set to be released via a software update, marks a significant advancement in Apple’s push into health technology. Once activated, the AirPods Pro 2 will not only amplify specific sounds but also conduct a clinically validated hearing test. Results from this test will be securely stored in the Health app on an iPhone, helping users monitor their hearing health in real-time.
While the feature is still pending FDA approval, it’s designed to assist users with mild to moderate hearing loss. The update also includes a hearing protection mode, offering passive noise cancellation in loud environments.
